The Prescott College Library staff and librarians serve off-campus students and faculty with a full range of university library services, including user instruction, borrowing privileges, and research assistance. All new students attend an on-campus orientation to the library's services. This handout serves as an overview of the orientation session.

Requesting Assistance
Services that you can expect from the Librarians include instruction on the use of various research tools such as online catalogs, indexes, and databases; reference assistance with searches; loan of books; and interlibrary loan journal articles.

Call or e-mail Rich Lewis, our Reference Librarian, for help with research, or for information on using Internet resources (extension 1307). Call or e-mail Norma Mazur or Tom Brodersen to renew your books, or check on your library record (extension 1300). Call or e-mail Kaia Lael for Interlibrary Loan requests (extension 1304).

Of course, off-campus students can visit the library in the Crossroads Center in person. If you are visiting from out of town for a Liberal Arts Seminar or a graduate Colloquium, you may wish to set up an individual appointment with one of the Librarians in advance.

Borrowing Materials
The circulation period for off-campus students is:

ADP 4 weeks
MAP 5 weeks
PhD 6 weeks

Books may be renewed twice as long as no one has placed a hold on them. To renew a book, go to the Library Catalog and click the gray "My Account" tab at the top. You will need to enter your 14 digit barcode. Then click "Items Out," and renew the books you want. If you have problems with this, please email Rich Lewis. You may also renew books by calling (928) 350-1300 or e-mail circdesk. Overdue library materials are subject to overdue fines. There is a five day grace period, which is NOT an extension of the loan period! Books returned after the expiration of the grace period are fined from the actual due date at a rate of $.25 per day per item. If books are not returned after a reasonable period of time, students are billed for the cost of the books plus a processing fee. PLEASE return/renew books in a timely manner. All fines or charges must be paid in full by the end of the enrollment period in which they are assessed. Any unpaid balance will be forwarded to the Business Office for collection. Borrowers are responsible for knowing the due date of materials checked out to them.
