MAP School Guidance Counseling Requirements

School Guidance Counseling Requirements

In order to qualify for an institutional recommendation leading to School Guidance Counseling Certification students must complete a minimum of 33 graduate semester credits of required coursework:

 

  • Counseling Theory (3 semester credits)     
  • Social and Ecological Perspectives (3 semester credits)
  • Human Growth and Development (3 semester credits)
  • Group Dynamics, Processing, and Counseling (3 semester credits)
  • Foundations of School Guidance Counseling (3 semester credits)
  • Vocational Counseling and Career Development (3 semester credits)
  • School Guidance Counseling: Program Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (3 semester credits)
  • Research Methodologies (3 semester credits)
  • Supervised School Guidance Counseling Practicum (9 semester credits)
