As with any resource, the Writing & Learning Center is used by different people in different ways.
«WLC Home»
you can make the best use of the Center by accessing, reading, and printing handouts and web-based materials that help you think through writing and learning issues you are facing in a current project. The handouts and links span the writing process from planning a paper to revising and editing. Sample student papers allow you to see how other students approached their various assignments. These resources are only useful if you try to apply them to your specific situation; think of them as problem-solving tools rather than as a list of answers.
In weeks to come, you will be able to consult online in a variety of formats with experienced writing coaches. When that service becomes available, we will post instructions here for taking advantage of that resource.
we would like to get you into the habit of referring students to the resources of the Writing & Learning Center. For now, we recommend you browse the resources for students so that you know what is available for them. If you have a print or web resource that you would like to see on the WLC webpages, please send it to the WLC Coordinator. To support your interest in helping students become more confident and competent writers, we have provided a collection of handouts and links for teachers. These resources emphasize how to work smarter, not harder, when teaching with writing.
Online writing consultations will be available this spring. Please check back to learn more about that resource as it develops.
