Admissions
As a small, private college, the Admissions Office is able
to employ a highly personalized admissions process. The Admissions
Office staff thoughtfully and carefully considers all applications
to the College. Admission criteria include, but are not limited
to:
- Completion of a regionally-accredited undergraduate degree by
the time of enrollment
- Readiness to engage in advanced study
- Ability to develop clearly articulated education goals through
a well-developed Proposed Study Plan
- Evidence of self-direction and previous academic success
The required application
items include a completed application
form, official academic transcripts, résumé, two letters
of recommendation, a personal statement and Proposed
Study Plan, and a $40 application fee. Some programs may require
samples of work such as prints or slides, short stories, or other
brief items of interest. Apply

Learning about
the Program
Students who are considering applying to Prescott College
should attempt to gain a thorough understanding of the College's
educational philosophy and practices by reading the view book and
speaking with an Admissions Counselor. To make an appointment to
speak with an Admissions Counselor on campus or over the phone,
contact the Prescott admissions
office at (877) 350-2100, extension 2112 or the Tucson
admissions office at (888) 797-4680. Please make appointments
at least two weeks prior to an anticipated visit.
Priority Admissions
Prescott College enrolls new graduate students twice a year in August (fall) and February (spring). Preference is given to applications postmarked by the priority due date. Complete files are then reviewed and admissions decisions are communicated by a specific notification date.
The priority due date for fall enrollment is March 15. Students will be provided with an admissions decision by April 1st. If admission is offered, a nonrefundable tuition deposit is due by May 15 to reserve space for the term.
The priority due date for spring enrollment is September 15. Students will be provided with an admissions decision by November 1st. If admission is offered, a nonrefundable tuition deposit is due by December 15.
Rolling Admissions
Applications received after the priority due date are reviewed on a rolling admissions, or first-come first-serve basis. Rolling admissions applicants will be notified as admissions decisions are made. Students who send in deposits after an incoming term has filled are placed on a waiting list.
The rolling admissions final due date for spring enrollment is December 15. All application materials must be received by this date.
The rolling admissions final due date for fall enrollment is July 1. All application materials must be received by this date.
A Proposed Study Plan demonstrates students’ readiness
to conceive and carry out independent graduate work in their field.
A strong Plan describes:
- Eight to ten potential courses of study
- A preliminary bibliography
- Suggestions for practicum
- Intended thesis topic
- Incorporation of the social and ecological literacies
At first, preparing a
Proposed Study Plan may seem daunting. Please contact the Admissions
Office at (877) 350-2100, extension 2112 with any questions. Our Admissions Counselors
can provide you with samples of course descriptions, practica, and
theses that other students have submitted.
