counselors are available to assist you in any way
during the application and admissions process.
Admissions
At Prescott College, you are much more than a number - even in the
application process. The Admissions Committee thoughtfully and carefully
considers all applications to the College, looking beyond the paperwork
to see the individual who wants to be a member of this community.
In addition to the Admission criteria listed below we also consider
a student's potential for growth and success at Prescott College.
Admission criteria include,
but are not limited to:
- Evidence of previous academic success and promise
- Good citizenship and community involvement
- Commitment to interdisciplinary academic pursuits
- Clearly articulated academic goals
- Evidence of self-direction
- Well-developed college essays
The majority of our applicants
have received B or higher grades in previous academic work. While
transcripts have an important role in the admission process, we
utilize a holistic review process that acknowledges other strengths
and characteristics of students' ability to be successful at Prescott
College. We do not require that all students submit test scores
but, if you have already taken them, we like to include these scores
as a part of your admissions review. Of the 400-500 applications
received for the Resident Degree Program each year, 60-75% are fully
accepted, 20-25% are conditionally accepted, and 5-10% are not admissible.
The required application
items include:
- A completed application
form
- One essay - a two to four page autobiographical essay reflecting on your past academic experiences and your educational goals
- $25 application fee
- One letters of recommendation - from an academic source for freshmen and from anyone else to whom you're not related or dating for transfer students.

Visiting the Campus
Students who are considering applying to Prescott College should
attempt to gain a thorough understanding of the College's educational
philosophy and practices by reading the view book and visiting
the campus. Interviews are recommended and in some cases are required.
(Contact the Admissions Office for more information.)
Most students who enroll
have made a prior visit to the College. During a scheduled visit
students can expect to meet with an Admissions Counselor and are
encouraged to attend classes and meet faculty and students. The
information gained during a visit is helpful to students in determining
if Prescott College is suited to their educational goals and expectations.
To make arrangements for
an on-campus tour and interview, and to receive more information
about scheduled tours, call the Admissions office at (800) 628-6364
or (928) 776-5180. Please make appointments at least two weeks prior
to an anticipated visit.
Admissions Calendar
Prescott College practices Rolling Admissions which means that you may apply at any time prior to the published Last Date to Apply. However there is a hard deadline for Early Decision and recommended Priority Dates for all other applicants. Applicants meeting these deadlines have the best chance of gaining admission and may be considered for Merit Scholarships.

High School Applicants
You will need to submit grades for the first year of your senior
year to be ready for review by the admissions committee. If
you have received your G.E.D., please submit that, in addition to
any high school transcripts you have.
Homeschool Applicants
If you did part or all of your high school work as a home schooled
student, you will need to submit evidence of academic readiness
through a portfolio that may include. At minimum, the portfolio
should be five to ten pages and include: course titles, course descriptions,
and bibliography. Some prior applicants have chosen to also
include writing samples, photography, and CD-ROMs of artwork.
Transfer Students
Transfer students who have successfully completed two full years
of college study (90 transferable quarter credits or 60 transferable
semester credits with grades of C or better) are not required to
submit high school transcripts. All other requirements apply.
Transfer students must be enrolled as full-time students at Prescott
College for at least two years before they can receive a Prescott
College degree.
International
Students
Applications from international students are welcome; however, the
College has very limited financial resources available to you because
you usually do not qualify for the state and federal financial assistance
that is available to United States citizens. Therefore, as
an international student, you should be prepared to meet all costs
personally.
International students
must exhibit a competency in the English language, with a TOEFL
score of at least 550 on the paper-based test or at least 213 on
the computer-based test. You may be required to have transcripts
evaluated by a professional credential evaluation service and the
student will be responsible for all costs associated with this service.
