Academic Resources and Community Connections

CLS is dedicated to creating a space where those working in the fields of Equine Assisted Mental Health and other Animal Assisted Therapeutic Modalities, Adventure Education, Equine Assisted Learning, and practitioners in Human Development and Psychology, can come together to share resources and collaborate. This space is also intended as a resource for anyone looking to learn more, become involved, or find a quality program in their area that offers opportunities for horses and humans to come together in therapeutic, educational, enlightening and mutually respectful ways.

The Equine-Assisted Mental Health Bibliography

Centaur Leadership Services provides a place where teachers as well as learners come to enhance their skills. To support this, we are currently in the process of compiling a comprehensive bibliography of foundational and supplemental literature related to communication, mental health, leadership training, facilitation and adventure based learning, ethical issues, ecopsychology, natural horsecare and relational horsemanship. Please feel free to browse and add to this emerging resource.

Creating Connections: Equine Assisted Mental Health, Equine Assisted Learning and Related Programs

The fields of Equine Assisted Mental Health and Equine Assisted Learning are relatively new, and rapidly expanding. As they continue to develop, a community is forming of practicing therapists, social workers, educators and horse professionals, all of whom recognize the power and potential of learning about ourselves and the world around us through work with horses.

--> Current students, advisors and alumni: Please submit names and websites of programs you are connected to and/or programs which served as sites for practicum and internship work to mcarey@prescott.edu. Thanks!
