Centaur Leadership Services - bringing horses and people together Paul Smith, Director Group Photo Bibliography Database Administration

Welcome

Centaur Leadership Services (CLS) offers Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) and Equine Assisted Mental Health (EAMH) programs for community youth, undergraduates studying leadership, education, and human development, and graduate students pursuing a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology with a focus in EAMH.

Our philosophy is that through conscious relationship with horses, people are able to develop self awareness, emotional congruence, and healthy ways of being.

Through intentional facilitation of the inherent healing power and intuition of horses, and in combination with the therapeutic value of natural settings, Centaur Leadership Services seeks to provide a venue for increased personal awareness, shared growth and academic learning.

More ways to support the Arizona Trail Expedition 2009

Arizona Trail 2009

www.acentaursjourney.com

In August 2009, eight students, two instructors and fourteen horses will be walking out of what is known. We will be
walking away from the personal and societal structures that have helped shape who we are, our beliefs and our habits.

For three and a half months we will explore awareness, relationship, intention and action while traversing the Arizona Trail. This 800 mile contemplative expedition from the Colorado Plateau of Southern Utah – through the heart of the Grand Canyon – around the San Francisco Peaks – across the Mogollon Rim – through the Superstition
Mountains and ending in the Sky Island Mountains along the Mexican Border will carry us into a deeper understanding of ourselves and what it means to be more fully human.

This journey will challenge our habitual patterns to help us better understand and make informed choices regarding our impact on the natural world. We will explore the care and attending necessary to support our unshod horses across the rockiest state in the country, we will try to feed ourselves and our horses from food that is local, and we will be mindful of the technology, fossil fuels, and logistical support we depend on along the way.

Arizona Trail 2009

“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life,
and to see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not,
when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.”
Henry David Thoreau, Walden
