Janice Kempster, Ph.D. - Dean of Distance Learning & Academic Affairs

As an educator, Jan focuses on creating access and opportunity for learners. Her focus includes creating accessible courses in live and online environments and utilizing technology in ways that enhance learning. She applies her fifteen years of higher education teaching and technology experiences to assist Prescott College students and faculty with their learning needs. As an administrator, Jan utilizes servant leadership strategies to foster collaborative decision-making among colleagues. Jan's work in Academic Affairs keeps her involved in all of the programs offered at Prescott College.
Background & Experience

Jan’s doctoral dissertation at Colorado State University explores how the organizational cultures of higher education institutions have an impact on women’s abilities to negotiate those cultures and advance within them. Specifically she surveyed female mid-managers in Nevada's community colleges to determine how they defined the organizational culture of their institutions and whether or not their definitions related to their advancement histories.
