Roxane Ronca, M.S. - Instructor

Roxane's passion is teaching applied mathematics in ways that enhance students' abilities to be positive agents for change in the world. Roxane also teaches environmental science classes such as Weather and Climate, and Energy and Environment.
Background & Experience
Awards, Grants, & Honors (Return to top)
2012-2013 Received grant from Arizona Board of Regents to deliver 100 hours of teacher professional development to K-8 teachers in math content and pedagogy, and to develop the undergraduate course "Math Methods" using the online platform Moodle.
2013-2014 Received grant from Arizona Board of Regents, in partnership with NAU, ASU, and UA, to research effective teacher professional development in math, with a focus on methods for training Common Core State Standards in Mathematics.

Roxane has an MS in Atmospheric Sciences from U. of Washington, where she focused on numerical and mathematical modeling of air-sea interactions.
Roxane has a BS with Highest Honors in Physics from the U. of Michigan, where she researched automobile air-pollution control effectiveness.

Roxane is passionate about helping students overcome their past negative experiences in math courses while learning to use math to make sense of the world. She loves teaching deductive reasoning and the power of mathematical thinking.
