Lloyd Sharp, M.A. - Associate Faculty

Academic Statement (Return to top)
Lloyd's professional experience includes teacher preparation and substitute teaching at the elementary level; teaching all four levels of high school English at Patagonia High School in Patagonia, Arizona; and 13 years at Pima Community College teaching four levels of scholarly writing. In addition, Lloyd has taught multicultural adolescent literature for Northern Arizona University in the NAU-Nogales School-Based Teacher Education Partnership. Since 2004 at Prescott College, Lloyd has served as a mentor for education students in the Adult Degree Program, a graduate advisor for education students in the M.A. program, and a core faculty member in the Master of Arts Program in Education and Adventure Education. In addition, she enjoys freelance writing and editing, holds writing workshops for writers, and tutors students at the college and graduate levels.

Since 2006, Lloyd's presentations have been conducted in conjunction with the Prescott College Master of Arts colloquia, concentrating on scholarly writing, education-related subjects, effective presentation techniques, thesis design, matters of interest in school counseling, social and ecological literacies, and border issues.
Research (Return to top)
Lloyd is an Arizona native who lived for 25 years on the border of Mexico in an agricultural setting. Her graduate research focused on rural education and the challenges faced by rural schools in terms of funding, accreditation and faculty credentials needed to offer students a full secondary curriculum and the necessary experiences in preparation for college application, acceptance and success.
