THE CONCEPT DEFINED
What’s happened so far?
- A coordinating committee was formed.
- A planning seed grant was provided.
- A design team, ECOSA, was selected.
- Charrettes were held with students, faculty, and staff.
- Research data was collected from PC documents, the city, and local community
groups.
- A design concept has been generated and basic programming is set.
What can we expect to happen next?
- Education of the “community” about the concept and collection
of feedback will occur over the next approximately 6 months.
- Fundraising will occur to secure the funds necessary for the next phase
of design.
- Once funds are secured, Schematic Design will occur, taking approximately
3 months.
- Fundraising will continue to secure the funds necessary for the next phase
of design.
- Once funds are secured, Design Development and engineering leading to final
construction documents will occur, taking approximately 12-18 months.
- Fundraising will continue, leading to final funds necessary for construction
and furnishing.
- Once funds are secured, construction will begin, taking approximately 12
months to complete.
We are committed to:
- Broad-based College community input throughout the process.
- Incorporating practical applications of sustainable design wherever feasible,
probably a LEED Gold or Platinum-level facility.
- Facilitating student and community input and labor into the final product
wherever feasible.
- Successful completion of this project.
