Prescott College Writers Become Published Poets


Amanda Pekar and Claire Reardon, both Prescott College undergraduates, have had their poetry published this spring in national literary journals.

Claire’s poem “Deltoides” was published in the Oakland Arts Review, an international undergraduate literary journal published by Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. Originally from Albuquerque, Claire is studying Creative Writing and Environmental Studies, and was the Assistant Managing Editor of Prescott’s own literary journal-Alligator Juniper.

Amanda also had a poem published in the Oakland Arts Review: “The Sometimes Door.” In addition, her poem “Falling in Love with the Red Priest” was published in plain china: Best Undergraduate Writing, an anthology of student work published by Virginia Commonwealth University. plain china features top-notch undergraduate writing and artwork from colleges and universities around the country.

Amanda is working toward a BFA in Writing and Literature, and has been awarded the James and Judith Walsh Award in both Creative Non-fiction and Poetry. Her work has also been published in Alligator Juniper.
