Prescott College's response to Arizona State Senate Bill 1045
Respecting the human rights of all Arizonans
Prescott College stands for the safety, inclusion, and just treatment of all people. As part of our commitment to social justice, the College opposes Arizona Senate Bill 1045 on the grounds that it discriminates against segments of the population.
In its current form, the bill protects Arizona businesses, counties, and cities from civil or criminal liability if they choose to bar people from using bathrooms that do not match their birth sex.
We believe that this legislation, if passed, will disproportionately impact transgender and gender non-conforming people.
The college takes this stand in support of an Arizona where the human rights of all Arizonans are respected.
