Green Initiatives
Each development project at Prescott College is designed to implement as many green technologies and points of sustainability as is feasible. Our recently finished Welcome Center and forthcoming on-campus apartments and Central Campus Commons include the following green initiatives.
- Passive and active solar energy technology
- Mature trees, native plants and edible herb and vegetable gardens
- Rainwater harvesting
Parking Lot Bio-swales and Basins
Existing parking lots throughout campus are being improved to accommodate the extra vehicles from more students living on campus. Paved areas, like roads and parking lots, increase storm water runoff, and therefore limit water absorption and increase the flow of pollutants into waterways.
