Hiring Information

Prescott College is a private, four-year liberal arts college in the mountains of central Arizona. Our educational philosophy stresses experiential learning and self-direction within an interdisciplinary curriculum. Environmental issues, field study, and a commitment to a liberal arts education are emphasized across the curriculum. Each program has its own requirements and procedures for applying for adjunct faculty, mentor, and/or graduate advisor positions. Please read the descriptions of our programs below to see which program you feel best matches your experience and qualifications. The following categories will bring you to detailed information of each program's requirements for applying.

Resident Degree Program
The Resident Degree Program is designed for students to live and study in Prescott. Every student works in collaboration with faculty to individualize and self-direct their studies. We offer small classes where faculty truly care about students and are available outside of the classroom. Most of our education takes place outside of the classroom because Prescott College is heavily field and experientially based. Our students learn by doing, not by passively sitting in a classroom. The environment, ecology, science, and the arts come together in our four areas of study: Adventure Education, Environmental Studies, Arts & Letters and Integrative Studies. We also have an Education Program.

Currently there are no openings for adjunct teaching in the Resident Degree Program. When openings become available we will include contact information here.

Adult Degree Program
The Adult Degree Program is designed for students that want to complete a bachelor of arts degree from anywhere in the country without sacrificing their personal and professional life. Our unique community-based education program provides for human contact and support throughout the program. Students work in collaboration with our faculty to individualize and self-direct their studies. Students can design just about any degree in such areas of study as Teacher Education, Human Services, Environmental Studies, Sustainable Community Development, and Management, as well as other liberal arts areas.

To submit application materials to become a mentor for the Adult Degree Program please select the Adult Degree Program link here for further information.

Masters of Arts Program
The Master of Arts Program is a low residency graduate program designed for mid-career adult students who want to earn the Master of Arts while maintaining their personal lives and careers. Students work from anywhere in the United States as well as internationally, under the supervision of fulltime Prescott College faculty, and with the support of and interaction with a highly qualified Graduate Advisor in their field.

MAP students earn the M.A. in one of five degree programs: Counseling and Psychology, Education, Environmental Studies, Humanities, and Adventure Education. Individual students design a focus within a concentration area that includes the foundational knowledge in their fields and integrates their own emphases and personal interests. Students do not need to relocate, stop working, or sacrifice family responsibilities: a student's community and workplace become the classroom.

Individuals who are currently professors or otherwise professionally engaged in their field are hired individually to fill the adjunct role of Graduate Advisor as each new student enrolls in the Master of Arts Program. Potential advisors are recommended to new students by Prescott College core/associate faculty and chosen by consensus of each new student, advisor, and CF/AF. To become a Graduate Advisor in the Master of Arts Program you must hold a master's degree with several years of professional experience in your field; a Ph.D. or other terminal degree is preferred.

To notify our faculty of your interest in becoming a Graduate Advisor in the Master of Arts Program, please send us your current CV or résumé, along with a cover letter that addresses the areas in which you are most qualified and most interested in serving as an advisor. Send your materials to:
