The Adventure Education department is seeking a talented, compassionate and skilled teacher. We define adventure education as an experiential process that takes place in challenging outdoor settings where the primary purpose is to build and strengthen inter-and intra-personal relationships, personal health, leadership skills, and environmental understanding. The field of adventure education holds tremendous promise for contributing to our society and environment in critical ways. We invite applications from passionate educators with solid academic backgrounds, research experience, interdisciplinary interests, excellent communication skills, and a sense of humor to join our faculty starting in August 2018. We seek candidates inspired by our mission to protect the environment and promote social justice. We are particularly interested in candidates who can contribute a multi-cultural perspective and the ability to bridge programs outside of their primary field. In addition to a masters or doctoral degree in a relevant field, we seek an individual who has significant experience teaching and/or guiding in remote field settings involving several of these activities: mountaineering, ski mountaineering, avalanche education, physical geography, interpersonal communications, group facilitation, whitewater river travel, emergency medical care, outdoor leadership, working with diverse populations.  Applicants must be able to teach in both field and classroom settings. Our field courses can last from three to ten weeks at a time.

Please follow the application instructions on the “Cluster of Faculty Positions” website.  Incomplete applications will not be considered.
