Prescott College seeks applicants for a faculty position in New Media, Communications, and Society. This faculty member will envision and teach new interdisciplinary courses to undergraduate and masters students and will lead in both creating and integrating a new focus across our curriculum. We are looking for a colleague who can equip students with the skills and knowledge to enable them to gather and interpret information and communicate effectively in a rapidly changing global landscape, to contribute to social and political change, and to use and critically analyze evolving technologies. Our ideal candidate brings experience working within movements for social and/or environmental justice and is motivated to connect students with opportunities for hands-on learning.
The candidate’s teaching and research emphasis may be in one or more of a variety of disciplinary or interdisciplinary academic fields, including the fine arts, the humanities, and the social sciences. Academic and subject areas the candidate might draw from to develop new curriculum include (but are not limited to) digital humanities, cultural studies, political economy of media; critical ethnic studies; feminist studies; history of technology; critical media studies; globalization studies; science, technology and society; global information systems; rhetoric and writing; industries and communications infrastructure; multimedia arts and communications skills; media; politics in the digital age; media ethics; and the politics of social media.
