Director of Professional Preparation Programs

The position of Director of Professional Preparation Programs is a 12-month administrative position with faculty status.  The Director is responsible for leadership for the College’s professional preparation programs including the B.A., post-B.A., M.Ed. and related professional preparation programs.   The Director may teach and advise students not to exceed approximately three course equivalents per year.

 

Areas of responsibility include: 

  • Provide leadership, vision, and direction for the professional preparation programs and curricula.
  • Lead faculty and work with the dean to plan and implement curriculum.
  • Assist with the development of academic procedures and policies.
  • Assist the dean with supervision and management of faculty, instructors, and adjuncts.
  • Coordinate planning and staffing of colloquia events by program faculty and/or graduate mentors.
  • Coordinate advising loads, teaching, and other work assignments with the dean.
  • Manage assigned budgets.
  • Oversee and assure curriculum development and revision for approval of professional preparation programs with the Arizona Department of Education and Arizona State Board of Education and/or national accreditation.
  • Oversee and assure integrity in representations of program requirements (catalog, handbooks, etc.).
  • Assure appropriate liaison and relationship management to Arizona Department of Education, to PK-12 Arizona local public school districts.
  • Lead growth in enrollment, diversity, and retention and other College strategic goals.
  • Support the implementation of articulation agreements with regional community colleges.
  • Propose and develop new programs and certification endorsements.
  • Work with Admissions to reach out to potential markets of new students for endorsements, professional development opportunities, and degree programs.
  • Assist in implementation of technology for learning and assessment (e.g., e-portfolios and assessment management) and lead assessment of departmental learning outcomes and program improvement plans.
  • Articulate and lead faculty in best practices in curriculum design and assessment.
  • Other duties as assigned by the dean.

Requirements:

  • Appropriate graduate credentials (doctorate preferred) in conceptually or methodologically related field.
  • Ongoing agenda of engaged scholarship or service.
  • Ability to lead development of a complex curriculum across multiple deliveries, degree levels, and markets.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the Prescott College mission for interdisciplinary, experiential learning for social justice and the environment.
  • Understanding of curriculum development and ability to lead curricular change and development projects.
  • Commitment to serving educational needs of diverse, systematically disadvantaged communities.
  • Experience with PK-12 learning environments and with external accrediting and licensing agencies preferred.
  • Experience, initiative and enthusiasm; a sense of humor.
