Experiential and Field-based Classes
Students working alongside researchers
The Kino Bay Center is a residential field station supporting approximately 100 Prescott College students in a variety of classes, independent studies, senior projects and graduate studies each year. In addition, the Center supports a handful of classes from other universities. Classes offered at the Center include an interdisciplinary array of topics in marine studies, conservation biology, natural history, ecology, Spanish, art and cultural studies. At the Kino Bay Center students build on their theoretical classes by doing fieldwork alongside researchers, resource users and community members. For example, after studying scientific research methods, students design projects to contribute to ongoing Center-based research projects in areas such as estuarine protection and fisheries conservation biology.
