Kino Bay Ecology Clubs Committee

Where ecology clubs come together to coordinate and participate in community events

". . . to create projects and to improve the quality of community life through their collaborative work."

The three ecology clubs come together to coordinate and participate in community events including clean-ups, community movie nights, and marches. Each of these events demonstrates the strength of this youth leadership movement in the community. In 2011 the Ecology Clubs Committee recognized the need to have a common space for the clubs to come together to share, organize, and promote their ideas. The clubs joined forces to solicit community support to pay the rent for a meeting room where they could come together to create projects and to improve the quality of community life through their collaborative work. The result was a resounding success, with many community members, groups, and non-profits stepping up to help the kids realize their goal. To date, the first 10 months of rent have been pledged, demonstrating not only the dedication of the students to establish themselves as a physical entity in Bahia de Kino, but the commitment of their community to support the movement. This would not have been possible without the continual support, encouragement and commitment of the EEP over the last 13 years.
