Ecopsychology

Combining ecological and psychological principles

Hand Holding Red Earth,

A student of ecopsychology strives to integrate ecological principles and psychological wisdom into a unified field of study. A competence in Ecopsychology must include courses from both the Psychology and Human Development Program and the Environmental Studies Program. Depending on the student's specific interest, emphasis may fall on coursework in either psychology or environmental studies. In either case, students must acquire a substantial grounding in each of these disciplines, a foundation that is crucial to understanding how humans act as psychological beings within ecological systems.
