Cross-Categorical Special Education
The Cross-Categorical Special Education, K-12, Arizona State Board of Education approved program certificate qualifies educators to teach students with mild to moderate mental retardation, emotional disabilities and specific learning disabilities. The uniqueness of this certificate from a student standpoint is that teacher candidates can have just one certificate instead of requiring multiple certificates for each area of disability. A student can now become more marketable with the Cross-Categorical Special Education teaching certificate as they can teach students with multiple disabilities and not be restrained to teach in just one area with a lesser certification. Prescott College will be offering this program in both a Bachelor of Arts degree and also through our post-degree certification program for those who already hold an undergraduate degree.
