PRESCOTT COLLEGE RANKS HIGH

Prescott - Prescott College has again been ranked as one of the top 31 liberal arts colleges in the Western region of the United States. The ranking appears in U.S. News & World Report's annual "America's Best Colleges" guidebook, which will be released on Sept. 4.

Each year, U.S. News & World Report evaluates and ranks more than 1,400 colleges and universities nationwide. Colleges are categorized by mission and region and ranked by 16 measures of academic excellence, including academic reputation, student retention, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, alumni giving, and graduation rate.

Prescott College was ranked among colleges in the Western region, including schools in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, California and Alaska.

The College received top rankings among Western colleges for a high percentage of full-time faculty, a low student-to-faculty ratio, a high retention rate for first year students, and for the College's graduation rate.

The College is included among the nation's best liberal arts colleges for its student-to-faculty ratio and percentage of full-time faculty.

Prescott College is Arizona's only non-affiliated, four-year, liberal arts college. In addition to its Prescott campus, the College also has an academic center in Tucson and research facilities at Kino Bay in the Gulf of Mexico. The College offers an undergraduate residential degree program at its Prescott campus, and a community-based adult undergraduate degree program in which adults of all ages can complete an undergraduate degree while studying in their home communities. The College also offers a Master of Arts degree program and is authorized by the State of Arizona to award teacher certification.
