PRESCOTT COLLEGE RANKS HIGH
Prescott - Prescott College ranked high again according to U.S. News & World
Report's annual "America's Best Colleges" guidebook released on
Sept. 10. The college is among the top 34 institutions ranked as second-tier "Universities-Master's" in
the Western region of the United States.
Each year, U.S. News & World Report evaluates and ranks more than 1,400
colleges and universities nationwide. Colleges are categorized by mission
and region and ranked by measures of academic excellence, including academic
reputation, student retention, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial
resources, alumni giving and graduation rate.
The Western region includes schools in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado,
Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, California
and Alaska. The "Universities-Master's" category (renamed from "Regional
Universities") reflects the institutions' missions: providing a full
range of undergraduate- and master's-level programs.
Prescott College earned the number one ranking out of its category, which
includes 573 institutions, for its proportion of classes under 20.
The College also received top rankings among Western colleges for a low
student-to-faculty ratio and percentage of full-time faculty.
Prescott College is Arizona's only non-affiliated, four-year, liberal arts
college with campuses in Prescott and Tucson. It offers bachelor of arts
and master of arts degrees and teacher certification.
