Submit a Press Release

If you have news to report, please choose one of the following subjects.

  1. Award
Submit information about someone who has received an award, honor or scholarship.
  2. Book
Submit information about a new book.
  3. Event
Submit information about an upcoming event at least 7 days before the date of the event. A two week notice is necessary for public service announcements and community calendars (in daily and weekly newspapers and radio stations).
  4. Presentation
Submit information about someone who is scheduled to present research findings or scholarships.
  5. Grant
Submit information about a grant award.
  6. Outstanding Student, Faculty Member or Alumnus
Submit information about a student, faculty member or alumnus who is doing outstanding work.

Please note: Submitting a form does not guarantee that a press release will be sent. Releases will be sent if they conform to one of these news values:

  • Timeliness
The story should be current, immediate or seasonal. Time is relevant to the media outlet; a weekly paper will use last week's news, but a daily will not.
  • Localness or proximity
These are events geographically or emotionally close to the audience. This includes localizing stories, for example, writing about a student's community service in Prescott and sending it to their hometown paper in Danbury, Connecticut.
  • Impact, consequence or importance
These are events that are likely to affect many people.
  • Names/Prominence
Big names, including people, corporations or institutions make news, but local names are great for local stories, too.
  • Size
The size of an event is important - the bigger it is, the more likely it will be covered.
  • Dollars
Money makes news; the bigger the dollar amount, the bigger the news.
  • Human interest
People are always interested in other people. If your news can be told through a "real life" story, it is more likely to be covered.
