Activities & Organizations

Student Activities
The Student Activities Coordinator works with students to coordinate campus wide events, dances, movie nights, lecture events, field trips, service projects, musical concerts, and extracurricular educational events. The Student Activities Coordinator also serves as an administrative liaison for the Student Advisory Council and recognized student clubs and organizations.

Student Advisory Council —Student Involvement and Student Governance
There are many avenues for student involvement at Prescott College. All enrolled students are members of the Student Advisory Council (SAC).

The SAC, working closely with the Student Activities Coordinator, is the main forum for students to discuss and debate College issues and policies. SAC meetings are held weekly throughout the quarter and are regularly attended by College officials. The SAC also endorses and supports a variety of activities and student-run organizations.

Student Clubs and Organizations
Student clubs and organizations may petition the Student Advisory Council for endorsement and financial support. Current student organizations include:

Only groups approved by the SAC and registered with Student Services may use College facilities. Groups seeking support from the College should complete an Event Responsibility Form (see Building Use and Reservations section) and file it with the Student Activities Coordinator in the Pinion Building.

Student Clubs
Information on how to form a new club and/or what clubs are active on campus can be obtained by contacting the Student Activities Coordinator. Students are encouraged to join clubs and form clubs as part of their academic and personal journey at Prescott College.


Student Organizations

Student Organizations are ongoing projects that have grown from various independant studies and senior projects into micro-businesses.  Most of these organizations are operated with the support of Prescott College under the management of current students and graduates.  The above organizations are indicated with an *.  Each student organization is offered space in the Ironwood Building to meet and work.

In addition, one student per year serves on the Board of Trustees, and students may also serve on various College-wide committees.

Event Announcements
Event announcements are posted on various bulletin boards on campus. College-sponsored activities, such as Senior Project presentations, lectures, films, and musical groups can be found on the Events Announcement Board near the mailroom and in the Student Union.  Quarterly event calendars are also available on the college website and in the Student Union.   Selected and approved events in the community are also posted in this area.

Students are encouraged to submit event announcements to the College’s online Calendar of Events at www.prescott.edu/news/calendar_form.htm. Students or groups sponsoring events that are open to the general public can visit http://www.prescott.edu/news/pressrelease.html to submit a press release form for the local media. Please provide information at least two weeks in advance for information to be sent to local community calendars and at least one week in advance for press release only. Take advantage of the other press release form options to let the Institutional Advancement Office know about senior projects, community service, internships, publications, and scholarships.

Announcement/For Sale Bulletin Board
For Sale announcements can be posted in the Student Services Office. All postings (sale, and informational pieces) must be stamped for approval before posting. Flyers for housing are submitted for approval with the Student Services Office.
