The Center for Animal Rescue and Adoption

Position Announcement: Internship

Spay More Animals ClinicWe are pleased to announce that we are accepting applications for a new paid internship position funded in part by the Make Yourself Foundation, a nonprofit organization conceived by the members of the rock band Incubus who donate a portion of proceeds from tours, royalties and other activities.

This internship program is designed to train the next generation of animal advocates to effectively analyze, develop and implement projects that benefit companion animals, the people who care about them, and communities as a whole. The program will develop model programs based on the no-kill philosophy that will save more animals in our community and nationwide.

Specifically, this internship position will be working closely with staff and other volunteers to develop companion animal and feral cat spay/neuter programs with the goal of increasing affordable, accessible options for the surgical sterilization of dogs and cats to reduce the number of unwanted litters. Under the supervision of a mentor, the intern will develop leadership skills by being involved in program development from start to finish, including researching the need/problem and conceptualizing possible solutions, providing a critical analysis of the options, planning the logistical elements of the selected program, considering the marketing and public relations aspects, integrating technology where appropriate, and soliciting the volunteer support and funding necessary to implement the program. The work the interns help to complete will be shared with others who may wish to use any of the information as a model for their own communities.

The mission of The Center for Animal Rescue and Adoption is to save more animals through proactive, progressive leadership and positive, organized collaboration. We are dedicated to rescue, foster care, adoption, spay/neuter, feral cat trap-neuter-return (TNR), medical treatment, behavioral training, retention and community involvement programs. We have been accepted as a member of the National Spay/Neuter Response Team and are developing a high-quality, high-volume, low-cost stationary spay/neuter clinic based on the Humane Alliance model.

The "Spay More Animals" Community Spay/Neuter Clinic will serve the Tucson community and surrounding areas, with a focus on feral cat Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs, rescue and adoption groups and low-income families.

For more information about the clinic, visit our website at www.SaveMoreAnimals.org/clinic. Internship candidates must have excellent organizational, communications and teamwork skills, dependability and dedication. Intern stipend offered. College credit may be available. If you believe that building a no-kill community is possible, and you think you might like to join our staff of dedicated, hard-working professionals who love what they do, we'd like to hear from you.
