The principal purpose of these guest speakers is to give the MAP community an opportunity to come together in discourse around current issues in the world. Each keynote speaker is chosen because she or he is a prominent leader or scholar in a field that is of an interdisciplinary nature, and whose scholarship and activism relates to social and ecological issues or aspects of student-directed learning. The MAP keynote speaker is a person who can speak to the larger issues of social and ecological literacies and responsibilities as they relate to scholarship and activism, and who will engender passionate discourse in the MAP community.
