Colloquium Keynote Speaker August, 2006: George Lipsitz

Dr. GeorgeDr. George Lipsitz is Professor of Sociology and Black Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is the author of American Studies in a Moment of Danger (2001), The Possessive Investment in Whiteness (1998), A Life in the Struggle: Ivory Perry and the Culture of Opposition (1995), Dangerous Crossroads (1994), Rainbow At Midnight (1994), Sidewalks Of St. Louis (1991), and Time Passages (1990). Lipsitz edits the Critical American Studies series at the University of Minnesota Press and serves as co-editor of the American Crossroads series at the University of California Press. He has been active in struggles for fair housing, educational equity, and environmental justice.
