Sean McLoughlin, MS, LAC, SEP
Adjunct Faculty for the Counseling Program

Sean McLoughlin has been working in the addiction treatment field for a decade. His specialties are working with developmental and shock trauma, unresolved grief, substance use disorders, process and behavioral addictions, and attachment issues. His graduate research into evidence based family interventions lead him into program development, creating and implementing family programs in private treatment facilities. Sean brings a trauma and attachment informed perspective to the addiction counseling specialization courses and enjoys exploring the complex and nuanced underlying causes of addictions with his students. Sean spent three years studying with the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute learning cutting edge approaches to trauma resolution based on the work of Peter Levine, Bessel van der Kolk, and Stephen Porges. In his spare time Sean enjoys researching depth and archetypal psychology and interpersonal neurobiology.
